Military Families
This week's article focuses on military families. I figured that I would blog the first paragraph and then post the link if you wanted to read the rest!
"I do not have any children of my own, but I do have a 6-year-old cousin named Mary Beth who I am very close to.
My grandma went to pick up Mary Beth from school the week after I left for my mobilization to Iraq and saw that she looked physically ill. Grandma asked her what was wrong and whether she felt sick. Mary Beth replied that she had been sick all day long, so Grandma proceeded to ask her if she was sick to her stomach or had a fever.
Then Mary Beth said, "No, Grandma, I'm sad sick. Leebo is leaving and I'm going to miss him."
Well, I found out that on the same day Mary Beth was sick at school, my dad had called in sick to work.
He told my mom that he had just been feeling a little under the weather, but I think both he and my mom knew he was actually just a little "sad sick."
As Easter approaches, it is important to keep in mind the families of deployed military personnel. "
