The brilliant thoughts of overworked minds

I think I'm finally back!

So yes technically I have been back for the last two weeks, but as many of you know I've been rather MIA for the last month. Sorry for cutting off communication for my last two weeks in Sri Lanka but I feel like break from the craziness of life was needed. So I visited with relatives during the day and clubbed at night my way through Sri Lanka while battling food poisoning, a fever, and general flu/cold symptoms those last 10 days while I abandoned all of you. All in all, a wonderful vacation as usual in spite of all the heightened security due to renewed civil unrest in the country.

First things first. For the love of everything....
Dear Hizballah,
Please give back the two soldiers you kidnapped several weeks ago. If you do that, Israel says they will stop bombing you. Call me crazy, but why don't you do that and see what happens?
Sincerely,
A concerned world citizen

Yes, I know the situation is much more complicated than the concerned world citizen (a friend of mine who wishes to remain annonymous) seems to realize. But I agree that giving back the two soldiers would be a good start rather than letting more of their people die needlessly.

How bout that Vanessa Minnillo? Not bad landing Nich Lachey, but is it just me or does she seem a little over the top clingy/crazy/annoying. I mean she's starting to make me feel like Jessica was a better choice afterall...

Aaron Spelling dead?!? Man... what are we gonna do for great entertainment television? This is the man behind Dynasty, Charlie's Angels, Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, 7th Heaven... I mean we're talking quality trash tv here and I loved every sick and twisted minute of it. May you rest in peace Aaron.

Oh Mel... why do you hate the Jews? And if you don't, then you really make it seem like you do. I still want to be your friend though and so if you could clean up your act a bit that would be great. Oh and crazy media, back off. I mean seriously, the man made a ridiculously remorseful apology. You all forgave Clinton for his cigar dalliances in the oval office, Whoopi's semi-racist remarks, Hugh's philandering ways, and Ted Kennedy's somewhat sketchy manslaughter charges. Doesn't Mel deserve a little love too?

Ok, that's it for me and all the things that have been going through my mind lately. Should be posting more regularly once again-- it's good to be home!! :)

  • ok, don't give into the media hype. Israel made a stance and Hizballah made a choice to ignore it. Give back the two soldiers. If the violence on Israel's part doesn't stop, then let's talk. They never claimed that they were making a balanced response although yes, they were probably just waiting for any excuse to start bombing the crap out of them...

  • Please, please, please just address my point of them just giving back the two soldiers and I swear I will let this go... why not give them back?! Help me to understand why everyone thinks it's perfectly fine for them to cower and complain about being bombed, but no one seems to care about giving back these two soldiers!!!

  • Says who? Who decided it's not about the two soldiers? The media? please... still haven't addressed my point of why not just give them back? It's the right thing to do at this point!

  • Ok.. I know I'm answering a question with a question here but.. WHY did hizballah kidnap the two soldiers in the first place? I'll bet u a million bucks that its because Israel has done something to them, because hizballah did something to them etc etc etc... Either way, on this occasion, Israel's response is excessive to say the very least... there is no way any god fearing moral human being on this earth can condone the massacre of all those innocent civilians especially KIDS.. yes KIDS!!!.. jeez! look at what just happened at Qana!.. and for what?.. just for the sake of a few soldiers whose J.O.B. is to risk thier lives and be in the line of fire to protect the very same civilians (whether that be Israeli or Lebanese)who are now being killed all because of them?!!! pardon my french but fuck dat shit yo!.. in fact god only knows how those poor soldiers must be feeling right now.... anyway the point i want to make here is that its all VICIOUS CIRCLE (including this discussion!).. as are all other conflicts in the world (and the war here in Lanka is fine example of that!).. the only way to break that circle and, as far as I'm concerned, the 'right thing to do' is to just STOP FIGHTING, lay down your arms and go to the peace table.. easier said than done of course...because this wont happen until there is a stalemate situation.. in the case of Isreal and hizballah, that will probably be when the ' international buffer zone' is created...

    here endeth my opinion...fwiw!

  • 1. Don't ever get on my blog again and insinuate in any shape or form, even to make a point, that just because it's their jobs that it's "just for the sake of a few soldiers whose J.O.B. is to risk thier lives and be in the line of fire to protect." One person's life is NEVER "just for the sake"

    2. Try researching both sides before taking one side for no good reason other than ignorance of the facts. This article doesn't make it right, but it doesn't make it right for you to imply that the deaths of one country's kids are more important than the deaths of children from another country just cause you heard about one incident on the news highlights. No "God fearing person" would begin to side with one side over the other using that point no matter who started the fighting-- seems like both sides are killing children... you talk about a vicious cycle of no blame, but it seems to me like you're placing a lot of blame on Israel...

  • ok, so I stand corrected. The general consensus of the blog is there is no point to taking the high road and giving back the soldiers because it would accomplish nothing. ok, sorry for the confusion.

Also, I think there was the implication of children's lives being more important than soliers. Is there a report by a third party company that has been keeping a tally on dead children since the beginning of all these troubles over the years? Google is letting me down and I can't seem to find it.

  • Sheara, you are absolutely right, one person’s life is never just for the sake and I apologise for making that remark…
